Question of the Week 2

What are some of the different approaches to Digital Pedagogy?

With the vast expanse of technology available to us, it has allowed for some new and more accessible approaches to learning. By 2008 of 2,600 learners surveyed in the UK, 74 percent had social networking accounts. With this being said, however, all students surveyed used the internet purely for social purposes outside of school.
"Few pupils had an understanding of the ways in which Web 2.0 might be used for educational purposes and few had well developed digital literacy and critical skills to navigate Web 2.0 territory in a mature way" (Becta, 2008)
However
"The emphasis is still on pedagogy leading the use of technology, rather than adapting to what technology offers" (Beetham, 2009)
These are the different approaches to digital pedagogy:

  • Academic Apprenticeship
  • E-Learning
  • Communities of Enquiry
  • Constructivism
  • Connectivism
  • Learning of 2.0 technologies
  • Practical inquiry
